They must be supplied with materials regularly products must be removed and taken to sell or use animals must be sold when the pen fills up and the animals' feeding trough must be regularly cleaned to ensure maximum production rates. Most Animal Pens require quite a bit of attention. The Horse Paddock is the odd one out, as it does not produce materials nor breed animals, but instead increases the value of existing animals until they can be sold for much more money than their purchase price. At that point, you may sell the excess animals for a profit. Animals in pens may also be able to breed, slowly filling the pen with more animals until capacity is reached. Most animals produce at least one material to be sold (or used on your fields). Once animals are provided with the proper materials, they will begin to produce whatever the pen is designed for. Input materials cannot be removed from the pen once they've been dumped into it. Different Animal Pens accept different materials, and have a different storage capacity for each material that depends on the number of animals in the pen at any given time. Animals can also be purchased directly at the Animal Pen (transport fee included), and can also be sold from there.Įach Animal Pen has multiple marked drop-off zones where materials can be dumped into the pen to be made available for the animals. There is also an extra transportation fee per animal that can only be avoided if the player purchases an Animal Transport and uses it to manually move animals from the dealer to the pen. Animals must be purchased from the Animal Dealer, for a set price per animal. This requires plenty of money and plenty of open space, as well as forethought regarding the best place to put each pen to make the work easier.Įach type of Animal Pen can hold one specific type of animal. Instead, players must purchase land Parcels and then buy Animals Pens from the "Placeables" category at the Store, to be placed wherever the player see fit. This is the first game in the Farming Simulator series in which the default maps do not feature any pre-placed Animal Pens. The handling of animals and their products is called " Animal Husbandry", and is one of the primary ways to make a profit in this game. Each type of Animal Pen can be filled with a specific type of Animal and its required materials in order to generate a new (higher-value) product, breed animals for extra profit, and/or train animals to increase their sale value. The telehandler can't do field work either unless you use something like the Snüfelstück dolly trailer ( ), but I tried doing a strategy which works without any mods.Animal Pens are a category of Placeables in Farming Simulator 19. The crab steering remains the single most useful feature for me, though, simply because I need to do minor corrections all the time basically. You could of course put a cheap forklift at the shop and leave it there, though. This might be due to the fact that I am using a PS5 Controller as main input device.Īnother useful thing about the telehandler over tractor+forklift is you can go anywhere with your trailer, load stuff, go back and unload it. I tried the wheel loaders but the fact that they are articulated made pallet loading unbearable for me. Thanks for the feedback, I updated the spreadsheet with the correct price and the map I am using (Elm's Creek) (There are no youtube links or anything in there so I hope this does not classify as self-promotion despite being a guide) The detailed cost calculation with purpose for every bought/leased item, initial steps and some potentially helpful screen shots is here (you can switch through the tabs at the bottom if you didn't know) You can obviously use a tractor with a front loader attacher instead if you really need to. I use the telehandler for everything, even pulling trailers to the shops! Being able to extend the "arm" allows for loading up to four big bags into a tipper trailer at once if you don't like the idea of driving next to the bags and pressing a button. I decided to go for a telehandler rather than a tractor with a front loader attacher mainly because the "crab steer left" and "crab steer right" modes, alternated with "all wheel drive" and the increased vision in first persion view make positional corrections while stacking pallets much easier and more enjoyable. I recently started playing Farming Simulator 22, tried out several starting strategies and elements of the game, watched hundreds of youtube videos and decided to try starting out as a Cow/Chicken farmer focused on selling pallets (no own field work initially).Īfter going broke or high into dept several times I eventually found a strategy for Farm-Manager which does not exceed the initial 1.5m cash but still allows for a strong start with at least a large cow barn, a chicken coop and a dairy.
